I've been thinking about trying one of those ZerO Glide nuts. I need to read more about them. I can't find any before/after videos. I love my guitars but depending on the tuning, the open strings can sound unpleasantly different and plastic-y.

Hello Tim. I am having trouble with Google. This is not my address, but Google seems to have forced it on to me. However, I have just posted a detailed comment, requesting if you could supply one of these pickups without the wooden casing. If so, how much. My first post (which seems to have disappeared) explaion that I am modding my Acoustasonic adding a neck pickup, but there's not much space. Cheers, keep up the good worm.

Cool enhancement to what is jow a classic design. Did you widen the body at all or just the neck? I was wondering if the narrowish Lutes body would look undersized with the added string. But the proportions look pretty good here, so maybe you changed it? Nice additions to the stable, and handy to have a pro like Prince drop by for a test drive. Thanks for sharing!

How critical it is for bass strings to align perfectly with the poles? I suspect that it's not super-important, especially with a humbucker PU.

121st looky-loo view about to happen... 5:58 - for what it's worth, IMHO the color of the string saddles for that bridge are a better complement to the wood body. 6:33 - personal taste - this one looks best; and the dark knobs instead of the chrome helps it all go well together. My fave of the 3. 28th LIKE.

But… the central block is the same wood every time. This test is practically meaningless. The vibration path is the only tone wood in a solid body guitar that matters. In these tests the wood in the vibration path remains the same every time.

I did something similar although I used tape on the sides to match depth evenly all the way through the neck.

I'm curious, I know this video is old, but how come after all these years, you still don't throw a mic up in front of the amp you're playing through.

Can I ask : if I wanna change mid-jumbo frets to jumbo, do I have to saw the fret slot a bit or the hammering will push it in anyways? Thanks

One small tip: you were working by looking at the side dots, so that side of the fretboard is probably evenly scalloped, but the side we saw (facing the camera) has very uneven depths in the scallops, as you can see at 02:08 and yes, I know the job was far from done, but I see that unevenness stayed uncorrected until the end. So it's good to keep checking often on both sides to make sure not only both sides are symmetric, but also that all frets are even as you go from one to another (up and down). Cheers!

I have this Univox bass. My folks bought it new for me in about 1969. It still looks new. I play it lefty. The original bridge is not at all adjustable and hard/impossible to get perfect for a lefty. I recently ordered a bridge that looks like yours, which looks to be a Hofner or Hofner copy. I don't know why it's taken me this many years to realize I could replace the bridge. Nice work on yours. Great vid.

In my experience going that deep isn't really needed, nonetheless great visual aid. I want to get a few of my spare necks scalloped soon and it's been a while since my last attempt.
